A circa 1936 oil painting on canvas titled Harvest Moon by listed American artist Frank Russell Green (Illinois/New York; 1856 – 1940). This landscape painting features the full harvest moon on the horizon, viewed through towering trees teeming with autumn leaves. This work is signed to the lower right. It is presented in a gesso frame with a gilt finish.

Frank Russell Green was born and raised in the city of Chicago, first studying painting in 1873 on a trip to the Rocky Mountains with Henry A. Elkins (American; 1847 – 1884). In 1880 he traveled to Paris for a short period, returning to the United States and working as an illustrator in New York City and Boston. He returned to Europe in 1883 where he worked and exhibited his paintings before finally settling Chicago where he devoted himself to painting the figure.

- canvas buckled to lower right. Extensive accretion and craquelure across painting surface. Abrasions to painting at frame edges. Cracking, chips and areas of loss to frame.
