Original Edward Randolph Glen Oil on Board
Item Details
An original oil on academy board painting by well listed Canadian artist Edward Randolph Glen (1887 – 1963). This painting is exemplary of the artist’s oeuvre, and moreover his phenomenally impressionistic style of painting. The use of impasto here is steadfast and grounded in its objective, pronouncing the foreground, and emphasizing the foliage of the trees that line the water’s edge. This painting is markedly the production of skilled hands hard at work en plein air. The piece is signed at the lower right hand corner, and is faintly dated below, seemingly, ‘1931.’ The painting is presented in a simple wooden frame with gilded and green borderings.
Condition
Fair-Good, the painting surface has become slightly convex, and the painting might benefit from a light cleaning but is in otherwise good condition.
