Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Heriz Wool Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian area rug. This wool pile rug is woven in hues of red, blue, pink, green, yellow, tan, and ivory. It commences with a polyagonal medallion comprised of floral and foliate motifs and flanked by palmette pendants. The ogee shaped field is densely populated with vines, oak leaves, rosettes, and palmettes, and grounded by layered spandrels infilled with complementary designs. Framing the field are floral meander and reciprocal guard borders, while the primary border features a stylized herati pattern over red. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
