Eastlake Walnut Rocking Chair on Casters, Late 19th Century
Item Details
An antique Eastlake style Victorian platform rocking chair. This mahogany chair features a square back with shallow carvings on the crest rail, open arm panels, chair frame and lower base. The crest rail is accented with deeply carved floral designs in a pierced frame, with an elevated floral crest, and raised finials on the carved stiles. The rocking chair sits on an h-shaped cradle with four casters. Some carved areas include a flamed mahogany veneer detailing. The chair back, seat and arm pads are upholstered in a patterned ivory fabric with brass tone nailhead trim. The chair both swivels and rocks. No manufacturer markings.
