Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Wool Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique hand-knotted Pakistani Qashqai area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in soft reds, medium to deep blues, and accents of ivory. It begins with a hexagonal medallion comprised of geometric floral and foliate forms, flanked by vertical chains of tree of life motifs, and delineated with sawtooth and crenellated edges. The lozenge field is populated with flowering plants, a pair of chevron patterned columns topped with leonine figureheads, and corner selvedges infilled with stepped quarter medallions. Framing the field are checked, barber pole, and floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays an animal head design. The rug is finished with overcast barber pole selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
