A gouache painting on paper by listed artist Ottmar Von Fuehrer (Austrian, 1900-1967), mid-20th century. The work depicts a mountainous range rising above lush greenery and a gestural stretch of blue water to the foreground. The piece is signed to the lower right. The composition is presented unmounted and unframed.

Born in Austria, Ottmar Von Fuehrer studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the University of Vienna. He maintained a long time position at the Carnegie Institute as a staff artist. He completed many countless murals and painted many of the dioramas in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Ottmar also contributed to the Natural History Museum in Vienna and the Florida State Museum in Gainesville, Florida. Over the years, the body of his work was mostly exhibited in Pittsburgh.
