Hand-Knotted Persian Meshed Wool Room Sized Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Meshed wool room sized rug. This ornate rug is rendered in a palette of red, blue, magenta, orange, ivory, burgundy, pale yellow, green, and shades of brown. The red hued field begins with an elaborate Mahavallant style double pendant medallion enclosed by dark navy grounded spandrels each infilled with a palmette form. The field is populated with floral motifs including scrolling racemes, and foliate edges to the spandrels and pendants. Framing the field is a wide panel of borders including a main stylized herati, floral meander guard borders with a number of blooms, and carnation meander minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
