This geometric Op-Art work is numbered 85/200 and signed in pencil by the artist near the lower edge. It is set under glass and housed in a simple brushed metal frame, equipped to hang.
The son of ‘the Father of the Op-Art movement’, Victor Vasarely, Yvaral was heavily immersed in an artistic and creative environment from an early age, continuing a formal education at the École des Arts appliqués in Paris in the early 1950s. In 1975, he coined the term ‘Numerical Art’, a process of art-making based on numerical formulas and algorithms. His works are represented in the permanent collections of the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum; the Tate Museum, Britain; the Tate Modern/Tate Gallery, London; and The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, among others.
