Item Details
A hand-knotted inscribed Persian Kashmar wool room sized rug. This rug features a vibrant palette of navy, red, light blue, ivory, mustard, gray, mauve, peach, and brown. It is densely ornamented with detailed urns, bowls, ewers, and a variety of scrolling flowers and leaves. The light blue grounded spandrels are equally ornate with bird motifs along with more floral and foliate forms. Framing the field is red grounded main border designed with elements found throughout the field that breaks over the floral meander guard borders. There is an inscription at one end in the outer navy minor border. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is labeled ‘Made in Iran’.
