Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Heriz Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Heriz area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of madder red, blues, gold, rose, and ivory. It commences with a large geometric medallion, infilled with floral and foliate motifs and flanked by oak leaf pendants. The rectilinear field is delineated with serrated edges and populated with a pattern of oak leaves and lobed rosettes, while the corner spandrels mirror the field pattern over ivory. Framing the field are floral meander guard borders and a primary border consisting of a geometric herati design over blue. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
