A hand embroidered silk needlework after a portrait of Charles William Lambton, Master Lambton, painted in 1825 by Sir Thomas Lawrence (British, PRA, FRS, 1769-1830), popularly referred to as The Red Boy. Likely 19th century. The work depicts the eldest son of John Lambton (later Earl of Durham), Charles William Lambton. The subject is dressed in a luxurious red velvet suit of the period and placed in a naturalistic setting. It is not signed or labeled.
