Item Details

A hand-knotted Bakshaish Heriz wool room sized rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, cobalt, madder red, cornsilk, apricot, fern, powder blue, and sepia. The ivory colored field features a cobalt grounded lozenge with a large-scale star pendant medallion enclosed by apricot grounded spandrels. The field also features rectilinear designed vine-work throughout. Framing the field is a main madder red stylized herati border, along with two-petal calyx guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
