A vintage hand-knotted Persian Qum room sized rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, cobalt, sky blue, sapphire, rose, marigold, salmon, coffee, sand, and ivory. It commences with an eight-point medallion comprised of flowers, foliages, and vasiforms.The curvilinear field is populated with swags of racemes and extends to corner spandrels infilled with overflowing vases. Framing the field are compound floral meander guard and secondary borders, while the primary border displays an ornare herati motif over sapphire. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Made in Iran’.
