Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a variegated palette of indigo, cocoa, and ivory. It commences with a lobed medallion comprised of rectilinear designs, while the irregular field is populated with oak leaves, rosettes, and geometric motifs. Each indigo colored corner spandrel is in infilled with a hooked octagramand surrounded by serpent, bird, and foliate patterns. Framing the field are stylized boteh guard borders, and the primary border features a hooked diamond and leaf pattern over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and natural warp fringe of goat hair. A label to the reverse reads ‘Made in Iran’.
