Hand-Knotted Bakhshayesh Heriz Wool Carpet Runner
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Bakhshayesh Heriz carpet runner. This wool pile rug is rendered in a variegated palette of madder red with tones of olive green, brown, tan, and cream. It commences with a chain of polygonal medallions, each comprised of geometric floral motifs and flanked by palmette pendants. The elongated field is densely populated with clusters of floral and foliate patterns, and extends to ivory corner spandrels. Framing the field is a primary border comprised of a samovar pattern over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
