An acrylic painting on a mandorla-shaped canvas by artist Oscar Murillo (Mexican/American; 1940- 2017). This painting features a green and yellow mottled motif with blue strings stretched down the length of the piece. The artist’s estate stamp is present to the verso of the painting.

Oscar Murillo was a prominent figure in the 1960s and 1970s Los Angeles art scene. Born in Mexico, he immigrated to the United States and settled permanently in the San Fernando Valley. He studied at San Fernando Valley State College (known today as Cal State Northridge) and received his Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts. Murillo remained active in his community, teaching art and exhibiting his art in galleries in San Fernando Valley, CA and Santé Fe, NM.
