A carved walrus statue by Canadian Inuk artist Joe Poodlat (b. 1951), member of the Taloyoak community. This statue is carved from black soapstone, and depicts a walrus laying on its side with head and one fin raised. The statue also has carved walrus ivory tusks. Included with this piece is a document from the government of Canada certifying the authenticity of this artwork and Poodlat’s First Nations status.

  • Please note that the sale of Inuit-produced ivory goods must be restricted in sale to the United States, where sale is legal, and excludes California, New Jersey and New York. The winning bidder must provide proof of current residence in a state where sale is legal, and shipping to states where sale of fossil ivory is illegal will also not be allowed.
