Two Medicine Lake
Lithograph on paper
Unsigned
A vintage offset lithograph poster promoting extremely well-listed American landscape photographer Ansel Adam’s (1902 – 1984) 1941-1942 photography series The Mural Project, commissioned during these years by United States Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes. The photos displayed large-format black-and-white images of some of America’s most stunning natural locations, and were originally intended to eventually be printed in mural size and hung in the Department of the Interior. The project was cut short in 1942, however, due to World War II. This poster depicts an offset lithograph of an image from this series titled Two Medicine Lake. The piece is presented behind glass in a thin black metal frame.
