A hand-knotted Persian Ardekan Kashan room sized rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in hues of red, blue, green, orange, pink, and golden yellow, with accents of ivory throughout. It commences with a diamond medallion comprised of intricate floral motifs and flanked by palmette pendants. The lozenge field is densely populated with purling vines, oak leaves, shah abbasi palmettes, and flower heads, and cornered by layered spandrels. Framing the field are compound floral meander guard borders, while the primary border features a palmette grounded herati over deep blue. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
