An abstract oil painting on canvas by artist Louis Papp (New York; born 1930), created in 1980. Louis Papp was a New York-based artist known for his abstract, mixed media paintings. His works are often comprised of aggressive gestural brushstrokes and textural impasto rendering large-scale expressionistic compositions. In the 1970s and 80s, he was a member of the Art Students League, a renowned and respected art school headquartered in Manhattan.
