A monumental oil painting on canvas titled Barley Barber Swamp by contemporary American artist Bruce Marsh (b. 1937), created in 1993. This exceptional painting features a photo-realistic portrayal of the trees and overgrown foliage in a swamp. Signed and dated ‘Marsh 93’ to the lower right, the work is also signed, titled, dated, and inscribed to the verso, reading ‘Bruce L. Marsh – Tampa, Fla, 5-93 / ’Barley Barber Swamp / Lef Panel, Left Wall / Florida Power + Light / Juno Beach, Florida’. An additional inscribed label is adhered to the verso. The canvas is presented in a gold-tone wood frame.
Bruce Marsh studied at the U.C. Santa Barbara, UCLA, and California State College at Long Beach. Currently based in Florida, he has taught painting at the University of South Florida for the last thirty-five years. Influenced by photography, he is known for his panoramic paintings of photo-realistic landscapes. His work has been exhibited at numerous institutions including the Tampa Museum of Art, the Ringling Museum of Art, the Jacksonville Museum of Art, and the Isaac Delgado Museum of Art, among others.
