18th Century Plaster Overdoor Panel After a Design Attributed to Robert Adam

An 18th century carved plaster overdoor panel, after a design attributed to Robert Adam (Scotland 1728-1792). The neoclassical panel in bas relief depicts floral urn draped with swags among scrolled foliate branches and fruit. The framed panel is painted in cream on an apricot field, it is wired at the back.
Robert Adam was a neoclassical architect and designer, the son of William Adam who was the most renown architect of the time. After completing his Grand Tour throughout Europe, he returned to London to set up shop with his brother James focusing on design schemes for decorating and furnishing homes.
