Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Zenjan Wool Room Sized Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Zenjan room sized rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of black, green, soft red, butter yellow, tan, blue, and accents of ivory throughout. The field is densely populated with designs of Kurdish influence including branching stalks of foliage, rectilinear palmettes, tree of life motifs, and flower heads. Framing the field are crenellated and carnation meander guard borders, while the primary border displays a palmette and floral raceme pattern over soft red. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Origin: India’.
