Hand-Knotted Persian Heriz Wool Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Heriz area rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of red, teal, pink, brown, yellow, and ivory. It commences with a hooked hexagonal medallion with large scale palmette pendants. The lozenge field is populated with vines, palmettes, foliage, and flower heads, and grounded by ivory spandrels infilled with complementary motifs. Framing the field are floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays a stylized samovar pattern over red. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. It bears a maker’s label to the reverse.
