Hand-Knotted Indo-Persian Wool Rug

Item Details

A vintage hand-knotted Indo-Persian area rug. This wool pile rug is worked in hues of red, green, tan, midnight blue, blush, and ivory. It commences with a hooked hexagonal medallion comprised of geometric florals and flanked by palmette pendants. The rectilinear field is edged with hooks and triangular motifs and grounded by blush spandrels infilled with complementary designs. Framing the field are floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays a floral quatrefoil chain over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe with braided accents. It is unlabeled.
