A vintage hand-knotted and carved Indo-Persian Tabriz area rug. This wool and silk pile rug is rendered in a palette of sage green, khaki-gold, midnight blue, cocoa, and ivory. The deep red field features an allover carved pattern of palmettes, vines, foliage, and flower heads. Framing the field are floral meander guard borders, while the primary border displays a carved designs of palmettes and flower heads over ivory. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and wool warp fringe. A label to the reverse reads ‘Origin: India’.
