A boys’ circa 1870 antique handwoven formal crested silk miyamairi infant kimono, hand decorated with a hand-painted design and embroidered accents. The hand-painted design features matsu pine trees on the shore with sailboats and distant mountains. It has five stencil-dyed kamon crest, two to the chest and three across the shoulders. Embroidered orizuru (origami paper cranes) decorate where the tabs are joined. The interior is lined in dark purple silk and has a slightly padded hem.
Condition
- light staining along seam, some basting stitches coming loose, some fading to black color.
