Finely Hand-Knotted Persian Silk Area Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Persian silk area rug, attributed to Kerman weavers. The rug has a dark indigo blue-black field, covered with a dense allover rose and carnation floral design in a repeating pattern. The field showcases dusty pink, salmon, scarlet and rose, with shades of mocha and taupe with very pale orange and shades of blue surrounded by lush green foliage. Enclosing the field is a wide compound border which features a primary band with a complementary colorway having a rose and floral meander pattern with highlights of bright blue-green. The primary border is framed by a laleh abbasi guard border in pale blue and mocha on either side. The rug has hand overcast selvedges and a narrow tightly woven kilim skirt with dense silk fringe to each end. The rug is unlabeled.
