Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai "Millefiori" Mughal Influenced Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai millefiori rug, influenced by Mughal designs. This wool accent rug is rendered in a palette of red, cream, blue, teal, and gray. The curvilinear mihrab has a cream colored ground infilled with a large vase form and a millefiori design comprised of an abundance of floral motifs. The niche has an arched ground in a similar floral design over red that coordinates with the upper portion flanked by medallions. Framing the sides is a patchwork style design with both geometric and floral patterns. A main cream grounded border of florets, and branched flowers, floral meander guard borders, and sawtooth minor borders also help frame the field. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
