A pair of acrylic paintings on board by artist Oscar Murillo (Mexican/American; 1940- 2017). These pieces depict dark, colorful compositions of overlapping hues. The artist’s estate stamp is present to the verso and the pieces are presented in thin, wooden frames.

Oscar Murillo was a prominent figure in the 1960s and 1970s Los Angeles art scene. Born in Mexico, he immigrated to the United States and settled permanently in the San Fernando Valley. He studied at San Fernando Valley State College (known today as Cal State Northridge) and received his Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts. Murillo remained active in his community, teaching art and exhibiting his art in galleries in San Fernando Valley, CA and Santé Fe, NM.

- loss of upper edge of frame on one piece; surface wear present to both paintings; large, white scratch to center of one painting; wear to edges of frame; wear to edges of board; minor loss of paint along edges of boards; dust and accretions present to paintings.
