An oil painting on canvas titled Standing Ballerina in Studio by well-listed American painter Samuel Edmond Oppenheim (New York/Florida; 1901 – 1992). The Impressionistic figurative work depicts an elegantly, simply poised ballerina wearing a blue tutu standing in the midst of the artist’s studio, the surrounding walls adorned with framed artwork. She gently adjusts a choker at her neck with her fingertips, the edges of the subject and backdrop oscillating in and out of focus. Artist’s signature is signed to the lower left. This work is mounted behind a linen liner in a wooden frame with a gold tone finish. A gallery label from Miller Gallery in Hyde Park, Cincinnati, Ohio is attached to the verso. A book titled The Paintings of Samuel Edmund Oppenheim accompanies this painting, and includes many color reproductions of the artist’s works.
