A mixed media painting on canvas titled After a Long Distance Call by artist Esther Liu (Chinese/American, born 1950), dated 1984. This painting features an abstract animal-like figure set against a background of chaotic brushwork. It is titled, signed, and inscribed to the verso.

‘Esther Liu is a Chinese American Abstract Expressionist. She studied Art at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and at NYU in New York City. She was a member of the Exoxy Art Group, a collective of artists hailing from Honk Kong and China active in New York in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1994 she had a one man show at the Pao Gallery at the Honk Kong Arts Centre and she was recently included in the Art Across Archives.’
