An antique American Aesthetic Movement style silver plate butter dish by the Meriden Britannia Company. The butter dish features a suspended spherical design with a removable dish insert, a sliding lid, an arched lid holder, and embossed floral designs throughout. It is hallmarked to its underside and addtionally marked with shape number 4942.
