A Spanish made 18K yellow gold ruby and 0.63 ctw diamond articulated flower brooch with plique-à-jour petals. The leafed stem of the piece supports a robust flower head with a crown of 18K gold sepals framing luminous cobalt blue enamel petals ribbed in 18K yellow gold. These hinged petals move to catch the light through the delicate plique-à-jour enamel cells. When opened, the six articulating petals reveal a resplendent prong set center ruby surrounded by nine round brilliant cut diamond stamens. The stem of the trombone clasp is marked for 18K with a possible maker’s hallmark of a hand. The brooch stem is stamped ‘Made in Spain’ near the bottom. This brooch weighs 12.50 dwt inclusive of all materials.
