An original oil painting on canvas by well-listed South African abstract artist Bettie Cilliers-Barnard (1914 – 2010), titled Primordial Day Dream. The abstract work features two tall forms painted in overlapping abstract shapes in soft shades of pink, orange, and brown. A blue orb-like form with a bubbled texture floats between the two. The painting is signed and dated to the lower left. It is titled to the verso and presented in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and a hanging wire.
Cilliers-Barnard studied at Pretoria Teachers Training College and in Paris under graphic art instructor Jean Pons. She would go on to have work featured in over 70 solo shows in seventy solo exhibitions in South Africa, Paris, London, and at the Prestiges Invitation Exhibition at the Taipei Fine Arts museum in Taiwan.
