An original pastel drawing on paper by well-listed American artist Everett Shinn (New York/Pennsylvania; 1876 – 1953). The drawing depicts a portrait of the bust of an early-20th century woman with a red curly up-do and luxurious pearls. The drawing is signed to the lower right. It is double-matted in white and presented behind glass in a wooden frame with a hanging wire.
Everett Shinn is remembered for his flamboyant, theatrical personality, which becomes evident in much of the subject matter of his art. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. The works of Shinn are represented in the permanent collections of dozens of prestigious institutions, including Art Institute of Chicago, Denver Art Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Everson Museum Of Art, Neuberger Museum of Art, New Orleans Museum of Art, New York University Collection/Grey Art Gallery, San Diego Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Canton Museum of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and Whitney Museum of American Art, among many more.
