French Gothic Revival Walnut Server, Late 19th Century

Item Details

The three-piece case features a shelved gallery flanked by spire finials over a table surface above two drawers with quatrefoil appliques. The two opposing doors with cathedral window molding are separated by a column with pineapple carving. The doors open to a vacant interior cabinet flanked by spiral carved stiles over a platform base. The case is seated on bracket feet with fleur di lis. The brass, lock plates are stamped ‘Dubois / Ft / A Paris’.

- to fair; top of work surface with scratches and stains; rear gallery with a small molding loss to bottom, left side with a replaced piece of molding on opposite side; some former pest damage (worming) with associated marks; right door does not close completely, as the latch is engaged and there is no key; column between doors with a small chip to capital; underside of base with some later glue and reinforcements; other various scratches, marks, and abrasions consistent with age and use; structurally stable.
