A circa 1864 print from the series Comic Pictures of the Floating World (浮世 狂画) by ukiyo-e master Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (月岡 芳年, 1839-1892). The print depicts two figures being shocked at the arrival of a host militant monkeys flying on horseback. The artist’s signature and seal are printed in block along the lower edge, a publisher’s seal is present in the lower left corner, and the series title is printed within a red cartouche on the right edge alongside a calligraphic poem. Presented matted and framed.
