Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Tabriz Wool Room Sized Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Tabriz wool room sized rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of scarlet, blue-violet, ivory, ochre, teal, rose, saffron, sky blue, celadon, sepia, and wheat. The scarlet colored field is ornately designed beginning with a scalloped pendant medallion enclosed by coordinating blue-violet spandrels. It features an allover floral design with purling sprays, palmettes, blossoms, and added mother and daughter boteh. Framing the field is a blue-violet grounded main border patterned with palmette forms, complimenting floral motifs and flower filled vases. Helping frame the field is a pair of floral meander guard borders, and Hamadan minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is labeled ‘Made in Iran’.
