M.A. Hadley Hand Painted "Country Scene Blue" Stoneware

A collection of handmade and decorated stoneware by M.A Hadley. This assortment is comprised of pieces hand-painted with a pig, farm house, sheep, chicken, and male and female farmers. Included are four soup bowls, six dessert bowls, three mugs, an ash receiver, eight dinner plates, six salad plates and a butter dish. Included are twenty nine pieces and each are marked “M.A Hadley” on the underside.
From the Hadley website: ‘Louisville potter Mary Alice Hadley was born into a clay working family of tile makers. Mary Alice took an early interest in painting and received accolades, and later endeavored to make plates for her houseboat on the Ohio River. The pieces were so popular with friends and family that she started a business in 1940. The Country Scene Blue pattern was her first and is still popular today.’
