An oil painting on canvas titled Moulin de Poulguen by French Post-Impressionist Abel Bertram (1871 – 1954). Portrayed with textural impasto and patched of pigment, this work is signed to the lower left. An inscription to the verso provides the title and reads ‘Avil Pinmar’. A label from Des Cadres, Paris is also adhered to the verso. The painting is presented in a gesso and wood frame with a gray finish.
A student of Léon Bonnat and Antoine Guillemet, Abel Bertram became known for his Post-Impressionist still lifes, landscapes, and figural paintings. He exhibited his work at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d’Automne, the Salon des Tuilleries, and the Salon National des Beaux-Arts.
