A color aquatint on paper titled Paysans by famed modern French artist Georges Rouault (1871 – 1958), created in 1936. This work is among the 270 impressions for The Passion, published by Vollard in 1939. All impressions were signed with the artist’s initials and date in plate. The color plates were printed by Roger Lacourier from Rouault’s hand-painted key plate under Rouault’s supervision. This work is presented under glass with canvas matting, and housed in a molded gesso and wood frame. Frame labels are adhered to the verso.

Condition

- some wear in frame includes small chips, stains, scratches, and finish loss scattered throughout.
