A pair of early 19th century American School oil paintings on wood panels. These works features half-length profile portraits of a lady and gentleman, possibly husband and wife. They are presented in matching wood frames with black finishes and oval openings. To the verso of the woman’s portrait is a frame label and an additional inscribed label that reads ‘Barbara Witmer’.
Condition
- drip stain down center of woman’s portrait; faint scratch marks and small spots of accretion scattered throughout paintings; rubbing and paint loss along visible edges of paintings; some wear in frames includes scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout.
Dimensions
- measurement of one frame, both same size; one visible image measures approximately 6.25" W x 7.5" H.
