An Art Deco color lithograph poster for Pelican Cigarettes by French artist Charles Yray, created circa 1925. Advertising Virginia tobacco, this color work features a smoking pelican juxtaposed with a reverse silhouette of the pelican. The cigarettes are packaged in a can, which was a French export of the Roaring Twenties. The work is presented under glass with white matting, and housed in a black composite wood frame. A frame label is adhered to the verso.
