A hardware store oak supply chest by W.B. Jones Spring Co., early 20th century. The case features a rectangular top overhanging a stack of nine drawers, the fronts of which are applied with blue and white, enameled-metal plaques. Additionally, the drawers are fitted with wire handles, opening to individually-numbered, multi-compartment interiors. The chest was intended to hold music wire springs and screen door springs of various extensions and compressions. The second-to-bottom drawer is marked ‘W.B. Jones Spring Co. Cincinnati, Ohio’.
Founded in 1913, the W.B. Jones Spring Co., Inc. continues to produce stock and custom springs from its headquarters in Wilder, Kentucky.
