A hand-knotted Indo-Persian Heriz wool area rug. The rug features a large central lozenge in scarlet, having a diamond medallion with pendants and ram’s horn hooks, in a palette of Indigo blue, salmon, pink, taupe, greens, grey and blues. It has elaborate rectilinear spandrels with a compound border system of chained arrows and samovar elements in a complementary palette. It has overcast selvedges and thick natural warp fringe to each end and is labeled to the underside.
