An oil painting on panel with applied paper accents by 20th century American artist Evelyn Marx (Cincinnati, 1901 – 1996). The painting depicts a group of three mid-century style decanters on an abstract tabletop. Lustrous liquids within the decanters have been painted using marbling techniques. The painting is signed to the lower right, but is only visible when the piece is removed from the frame. The painting is presented in a composite frame with cast embellishments, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire.

Evelyn Marx grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, beginning her formal studies of art and literature at the University of Cincinnati, eventually establishing herself nationally as a fine artist and poet, before going on to exhibit her work internationally. Her work is represented in the collections of numerous prestigious institutions including the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Boston and New York Public Libraries, the Library of Congress, and many more across the globe.
