S.S. Stewart Eight-String Banjeaurine, Late 19th Century
Item Details
An S. S. Stewart eight-string banjeaurine, a term used for banjos with a shorter neck than the traditional five-string counterparts. The wooden neck features celluloid tuning pegs, mother of pearl accents; and is marked ‘S. S. Stwart, Phila. PA.’ to its underside. The head is marked ‘Jos. B. Rogers Jr.’ This model dates to the late 19th century.
