Pair of American 900 Silver Salt Cellars and Sterling Silver Spoons, Circa 1850

Item Details

A pair of American 900 silver salt cellars and sterling silver spoons, circa 1850, feature the mark of silversmith, Ball, Tompkins and Black, New York, (1839- 1851). The oval boat form cellars, have gilt bowls and are standing on four padded feet. They are monogramed with a gothic font, ‘MAB’. The spoons, with bright cut ‘WC’ monograms, have the British lion passant for sterling, however the other marks are indiscernible from age and wear. The total approximate weight inclusive of the 900 silver cellars is 6.830 ozt and the sterling spoons are 0.345 ozt.
