A hand-knotted Persian Viss Heriz long rug. This wool rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of scarlet, black, bright pink, turquoise, mocha and taupe. It features a center geometric cruciform medallion against a black ground with stylized peacocks, llamas and camels as well as geometric motifs. Framing the field are two guard borders with meandering ribbon and flower design, and a main cartouche or compartment border. Selvedges are hand overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory cotton warp fringe.
